Online Advisement
Once you have read and understand the following instructions you may click here to go to the advisement form.
Online advisement is available to you if:
- you are a sophomore major in the College of Health and Human Sciences (see CHHS Majors page for a list of the majors we offer); or,
- you are a Pre-Nursing major, any level;
- you are not on academic probation, intervention, restricted enrollment, or exclusion;
- you are certain of the classes you need to fulfill your major degree requirements.
If you've met the requirements listed above:
- Visit WINGS and view the Schedule of Classes.
- If you are not sure which classes to take, review your curriculum sheet.
- If, after reviewing your curriculum sheet you are not able to determine which classes you should schedule, make an appointment to meet personally with an advisor by calling 871-1931.
- If you are interested in taking a course that is not a part of your curriculum, you will need to explain why in the comments section.
- You are responsible for knowing all course pre-requisites and whether or not you have fulfilled them. Students must have met the pre-requisites for any course they wish to take. Check the course descriptions in the Georgia Southern University online catalog for information on course prerequisites.
- Certain courses are "Permission Only", "Honors", etc. Under the status column, (listed as S in the Schedule of Classes), check to see if the class you want has an "open" status (designated by a "1" in this column). If a courses is designated as "3" or "4" speak with an advisor regarding your eligibility for that course.
- List at least 2 alternate courses for each primary course you wish to take. Alternates must be completely different courses and not the same course at different times.
- Athletes should pay close attention to class times in order to allow for practice.
- If you are retaking a course, indicate in the Comments Section which course you are retaking and why (to get a better grade, improve GPA, meet a pre-requisite, etc.) Remember that the most recent grade replaces the last grade obtained, even if the new grade is lower. Some programs will require a minimum cumulative GPA. In a cumulative GPA, ALL grades count.
- If you are required to take a course such as Regents' Remediation, Methods of Learning or to satisfy a CPC deficiency, enter the appropriate course information as you would for any other class.
Registering After Online Advisement:
- When your online advisement is completed (usually after 3-5 business days), we will send you your Registration Access Number (RAN) to the email address you give us.
- Check your "time slot" for registration on WINGS under the "Registration Status" option.
- You will need to register within the time frame allowed on WINGS.
You cannot register without being advised, either in person or online, and receiving your RAN number! Other things to remember:
- A normal course load is 15-18 hours.
- Twelve hours is considered full time for determination of tuition and most financial aid benefits for undergraduate students for ALL semesters (Fall, Spring and Summer).
- Please check with your financial aid counselor if you have any questions regarding your financial aid.
- Make sure we have your name, Eagle ID or student identification number, email address and phone number on your emails to us.
- Check your email often! If there are any problems or concerns with your on-line advisement form this will be the way in which we will get in touch with you. Failure to resolve advisement concerns could result in delayed registration.
- Please remember that this form is for advisement purposes only.
- Once your advisement form has been reviewed and approved, you will receive a copy of the approved advisement form with a statement of its approval and your R.A.N.. This could take 3-5 business days.
